What happens on land doesn’t stay on land. Land use, climate change, pollution, and agricultural and fisheries development can all shape the health of our watersheds, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems.

But how do we understand these connections? And how can research better inform the decisions being made on the ground?

Join us at the 2026 International Forum on Terrestrial-Aquatic Interface Dialogue to explore these questions across disciplines.

What will we explore?

From Land to Coast: How are land use, climate change, and sediment movement transforming our coasts and wetlands? Discover the latest research on mangroves, coastal wetlands, and watersheds to unpack the crucial links between land and aquatic systems.

Blue Carbon Ecosystem, Biodiversity & Nature-based Solutions:

Can blue carbon and Nature-based Solutions strengthen our coasts? Explore effective, site-specific management strategies that balance carbon storage, biodiversity, ecosystem services, and local needs.

Special Focus: Taiwan’s Mangroves

Should mangroves always be protected? When might restoration, natural expansion, thinning, or removal be appropriate?

Mangrove conditions vary by location. We’ll look at cases from across Taiwan and discuss how landscape, biodiversity, land-use history, and local needs can inform more flexible, site-specific approaches to mangrove management.
