To address the Belmont Challenge and promote international collaboration, the Belmont Forum advances Collaborative Research Actions (CRAs)—international calls for proposals that support transnational and transdisciplinary research.
Since 2015, Taiwanese research teams have participated in 9 CRAs, including DUT 2024, CEH 2 2023, SSCP 2022, Pathways 2020, Soils 2020, CEH 2019, DR3 2019, SEI 2018, and FWE 2016. A total of 20 projects have been awarded, demonstrating Taiwan's active engagement in the Belmont Forum's international research network.
In addition, a young researcher and a stakeholder from Taiwan were selected as a pair to participate in the Advancing Leadership Program (ALP), a new program designed to cultivate leaders in transdisciplinary (TD) research.
Taiwan is currently participating in 2 CRAs that are open for proposals:
1. Vulnerability and Resilience Management for Socio-Environmental Systems in Exposed Territories (Resilience 2025); and
2. Towards the Ocean We Want: Biodiversity and Ecosystem Sustainability for Nature and Human Well-being (Ocean 2, 2025).
