In response to the government’s promotion of sustainability governance in the public sector, the Research Center for Sustainability Science also assists the Academia Sinica Committee on Sustainable Development in identifying relevant issues and formulating implementation strategies. The Center supports the planning and advancement of Academia Sinica’s sustainability transition, with the goal of moving toward a more sustainable Academia Sinica.
In 2025, the Center initiated the development of a framework covering three major dimensions and ten key topics, along with related data collection and organization. These include:
Environmental Protection (E):
Net-zero carbon reduction (including carbon inventory and energy management)
Pollution control (including waste, wastewater, and air emissions)
Environmental and landscape enhancement (including ecological conservation)
Social Responsibility (S):
Health and safety (including labor safety, laboratory safety, and disaster prevention)
Employee rights and welfare (including gender equality)
Public dissemination of scientific achievements (science outreach and education activities)
Governance (G):
