Joining the Global Effort to Advance Sustainable Science
To expand and strengthen its international research network, Future Earth Taipei participated in the 2023 Future Earth Conference and the Sustainable Research and Innovation (SRI) Conference, held in Panama City in June 2023. The annual Future Earth Assembly brings together members of the Future Earth community to discuss and propose new priorities for the organization’s strategic development. Since 2021, SRI has provided a platform for global leaders from research, government, civil society, and the business sector to advance science for sustainable development. At SRI 2023, Future Earth Taipei organized and co-organized multiple sessions on topics including health, food security, and environmental sustainability; higher education and research on climate change mitigation and adaptation; and networks for nurturing young scholars. In December 2023, representatives from Future Earth Taipei attended the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting to promote Taiwan’s scientific research on sustainability on this global platform.
