UrbanWorking Groups
Cities play an increasingly important role in global sustainable development. Urban areas account for less than 2% of the world’s land area; however, they generate the majority of global waste and GDP. Cities are also complex settlements where the economy, culture, biodiversity, and infrastructure—ranging from public transportation to wastewater treatment systems—can all interact with one another.
The Urban Working Group aims to develop new knowledge and tools to accelerate the real-world transition and transformation toward sustainable and livable cities.
